The basic concept for Designer Information Services (DIS) was formed in 1963 recognizing that manufacturers of specifiable building products needed a less expensive, yet effective means of reaching architects, and that the architect’s time, being limited, required a way to stay up-to-date with current product information. The founder of DIS recognized this and fused the two challenges into a service that visited architects with multiple, non-competing products in a disciplined amount of time each visit. This dynamic service got it roots from a home in Los Angeles, California.
As DIS serves their community here in Northern California, great care is given to the quality of the services provided to both manufacturers and designers. Unlike other services, the Architectural Representative who calls on the designers here in Northern California is an owner.
